Information Broker and Inference Translation System (IBITS)
Many police information systems have become available at varying stages of maturity and sophistication. When agencies with separate and distinct record management systems wish to share their information, the differences in these systems can make the communication process challenging. These systems are comprised of products from several different vendors and that lack a standard communication format that would provide a common ground for exchanging data.
 The IBITS Broker overcomes this communication barrier and provides a reliable, seamless and highly secure solution for sharing of information between agencies. There are two core components that make this possible. The software Adapter is the interface between a data source or your client and the Broker system. It is configured for the specific architecture used by the target record management system or client interface, communicating through web services or over sockets. This component translates requests into the CPSIN data format and passes them to the Broker. The Broker directs requests to the target systems and returns the response.
As future upgrades in data standards are made available to each Agency / Client the IBITS system is capable of providing on the fly data translation to both the old and new standards. This is a very powerful concept when considering upgrading multiple connecting hosts. Instead of upgrading all Clients at the same time they can now, with IBITS, be upgraded to the new standard at your convenience without impacting the availability of information.
Security for transferring law enforcement and sensitive information across different networks can be a heavy burden on your IT staff. The IBITS systems utilizes both RSA and 256 bit AES encryption to fully secure data. In addition, the attached networks can be further secured using an encrypted VPN connection.
