Bulletproof Staff Race Day

Posted by: Andrew Jefferies

Tagged in: Untagged

We have done two successful customer racing events last year  and a couple of years ago we did another staff racing event. It was time again to get our staff and family out on Speedway 660 to see what they could do behind the wheel of the Pro-Stock and Sportsman class race cars.

Thanks to Cisco helping with the event, Steve and Chris for coordinating and letting us use their track and car, Ken MacKenzie (#85) for trusting us with his great Sportman car and Lonnie Sommerville for the instruction.

Bulletproof is currently in Toronto at the Cisco Networkers Solutions Forum 2010. We have a great booth setup this year featuring lots of video surveillance toys and demonstrations.

Our video wall shows live feeds from local and remote sources. Come visit us at our booth.

Why...is...my...video...choppy?

As you may have noticed, while watching your video of the Bulletproof Race Day Event, that the in-car video section is a little choppy. You may be wondering why.

Well, first of all, we had some design constraints:

Easy (Python) webserver for testing

I just stumbled upon a great little tool. I have become a fan of the Python programming language. I use it for most of my general purpose scripting requirements.

In my current project, as part of a pen test, I needed a quick and dirty web server for serving up a single file. I didn't want to go through a big song and dance installing IIS or Apache. Instead, I found this.

Really, do you?

System and process documentation  are something that I am always asking for in my job as a security consultant.  No surprise to anybody in the field, most times the documentation just doesn't exist. When it does exist, it is usually really hard to find because it is scattered amongst a variety of file servers, CMS and personal computers. To complicate things, it's probably also in a variety of formats.

On Monday night and Tuesday of this week I attended the annual Atlantic HTCIA conference. As part of this conference we always have an evening public session on internet safety. This is a great opportunity for families and members of the community to come out and gain some insight into current internet safety issues.

The highlight of this years evening session was a powerful presentation from Signy Arnason (Director, Cybertip!ca - Canadian Centre for Child Protection). She provided a presentation that struck even those of us that have been hardened by some of the internets darker sides. Highlighting some specific cases of child abuse that the center has encountered in recent years.
