Just shy of 60 IT experts Bulletproof Solutions Inc. has managed to develop an excellent reputation based on its people and their professionalism. When the company first started we mainly focused on the Security side of things but after a few years it became apparent we were coming to a cross road within our company and the market in Atlantic Canada.
The security market in Atlantic Canada had been saturated with IT companies claiming they were security focused and had all the answers, meaning we were just another option. After working very hard for three years to solidify our brand, you can just imagine how we felt when the market seemed to turn.
We had two choices, branch out to other parts of Canada and the Eastern United States or diversify locally. In our opinion it was an easy decision to stay local but the challenge was remaining focused on what we did well. I had been down the road of being all things to all people in my previous job and saw how customers were continually getting frustrated and that was not where we wanted to go.
A meeting of the minds took place and we were able to identify 3 other key areas that had a security focus but would allow us to expand. Managed Services, Secure Application Development and Unified Communications were the best fit and we immediately developed our practice. Each of these three new service areas had a strong security component and most people would agree but we needed to imbed it into our processes for Bulletproof to be successful. Five years later and several battle scars later we had made the right decision and have stuck to our roots successfully.
Our latest expansion into the Video Surveillance and Physical Security realm has an obvious security focus and we will be the only company in Canada that is certified by CISCO in this discipline. This is a giant competitive advantage for us and my job is to ensure that we capitalize on it.
